This wiki started as a bit of a personal repository of little tricks and tips that I picked up and wanted to record somewhere. It's still mostly that, but there are some scripts here that I find useful too, and maybe someone else might too.

It's not terribly well organised here, but then I'm not a terribly organised person. So far everything is linked to from here and I'm slowly adding categories to each page.

If something does help you, please do let me know, or update or add to a page's discussion if you've used something differently to how I have.

Cisco

Some Cisco config snips, guides, and tips

• ADSL configuration using dialer profile
• Terminal Server - Config for a Cisco 2509/2511 nm-16 or nm-32.
• Terminal Server with menu - As above but with a nice menu system
• Format Flash Memory - Remember to format new flash memory
• IPSec Virtual Tunnel Interfaces - Recommended for GRE tunnel over IPSec type implementations.
• ACS LDAP Group Filter - Filtering the groups returned in an LDAP bind on ACS to overcome it's limit on the number of returned groups.

CheckPoint

• Nokia Backup - Schedule regular backups of Nokia IP security platform
• Checkpoint Backup - Backing up your checkpoint smartcenter, where all the important stuff like the rulebase lives
• IPSO Route Extract - Extracts the routing info from your IPSO config into text ready for pasting to clish or voyager
• SPLAT CLI Timeout - Extend the idle timeout of SPLAT CLI
• FW Monitor - Capturing traffic on firewalls using fw monitor

• Auto Thumbnailer - Used on my main site to automatically create thumbnail sized versions of my weight graph.
• Process Checker - Check that a given PID is alive, restart if it isn't
• IRCd Checker - version of above for IRC daemons
• VBS_Prune - A VBScript to delete old files

Linux

• Minicom Config - config and alias to have minicom work for cisco devices
• iPad Video Convert - convert avi files to mp4 files suitable for iPad using ffmpeg
• One Liners - single line commands for various tasks

Mac

I bought a Mac again a while back, so there will be some stuff for that here

• Minicom on Mac - Getting minicom working on the Mac using a prolific pl2303 USB to serial adapter
• GNS3 & VirtualBox on Mac - Getting GNS3 and Oracle VirtualBox to play together nicely on the Mac
